A really great trip for students! Honestly I didn’t pay much for this vacation and everything was perfect! Big shout out to Yoadsis at the sport bar, a great person to make your vacation even better! Incredible service and great ambiance. Would definitely recommend! The food was good for Cuba and the facilities were clean. Everyone was so nice! I will come back for sure.

I went to see Mayelin in hopes of any relief. The massage was so well done that my legs felt better instantly. Legs felt lighter, head clearer, neck back more relaxed. “The Starfish Experience”

Some friends and I stayed at Starfish Veradero from March 6-13 which included 4 adults and 2 kids. CHECK-IN /CHECK-OUT Check-in was pretty slow. There were several people who arrived all at the same time and their system seems to be mostly manual. Check-out was pretty quick and easy. STAFF The staff here is truely what makes your stay enjoyable. So I've highlighted a few notable people. ANDY - the entertainment manager was sooo kind. He found out I was diabetic on my first day and every day afterwards checked in on me and asked how my blood sugars were doing. He told me if I needed anything specific; food or drink he'd hook me up. He was also just a pleasant person willing to go the extra mile. FILLIPE - At the main pool bar looks rough and mean, but when you catch his smile or a laugh he brightens up the space. ARLEY- At the main pool bar, he was so kind, so helpful easy to talk to, and always had a smile on his face. INGRIS- Part of the entertainment team. She was kind and gentle with the kids. Warm heart, a joy to chat with, great smile and overall you can tell she's a good person. ERNESTO - Security guard. He was a nice guy to talk to, kept a good eye out for us and a good human. IDA - The sunwing rep, had all the answers we needed, was super nice and hooked us up with someone to brain out hair in our room which was cool. DRINKS You can get delicious drinks at the pool bar in the morning, but they often run out of mix and ice come the afternoon. The 24hr bar would also run out of mix or ice at different times of the day/night. And we never got drinks at the sports bar. FOOD I would say most of the food was ok, but some of it was really good. Specifically the hamburger, chicken and ham sandwiches you can get by the main pool and the sports bar at night. My friend loved the spaghetti at the main pool and the fries and fried banana was really good too. Be careful though, the food runs out there throughout the day. The food at the buffet in the main building was ok most of the time. We never went hungry at the very least. We tried both à-la-carte and they were pretty good. AMENITIES Some of the amenities are rough. More often than not, the public washrooms do not have soap or toilet paper. We had read about that, so we brought our own everywhere we went. We asked to upgrade from our original room because it wasn't great. The resort was built by Fidele Castro in 1977. You can tell it was stunning back then. This place is in rougher shape now. There are 2 pool areas. The main pool has a bar, bathrooms, a lot of the entertainment during the day, plenty of chairs and the Kids Club. The second pool has bathrooms, the gym, "serenity spa" where you can get a massage, plenty of chairs and beds, but the bar was only staffed and stocked during the foam party which was fun. There's a square on the resort where there are shops, the 2 à-la-carte restaurants, towel exchange; they often run out of towels before 11am, and sometimes nighttime entertainment. Wifi was spotty for some people, but i didn't have much issues. I did have to keep losing back in ever day, but it wasn't a big deal. ENTERTAINMENT Most of the entertainment team were a great time, but there were 2 or 3 members of them who were a bit pushy with the kids, and ai could tell they were making the kids feel pressured into participating. There were games at the pool, a kids club, night time entertainment for the kids around 8:30pm which was too late, many kids missed it, and participation was sparce because of the "pushiness" with the kids. It often felt awkward and the kids seemed to have more fun afterwards when the mini-disco was over. The later entertainment at 9:30 for the adults was fun the dancers and musicians are really talented. There was also live piano in the main building many nights which was awesome. BEACH The beach is BEAUTIFUL. There is music at the main entrance to the beach along with a bathroom and a bar. There's a second entrance as well. You can faintly hear the music and so you can enjoy listening to the waves. There is a clear "line" in the sand where people selling things on the beach cannot pass, so they weren't allowed to come up to your chair and bother you which was nice. Many other places I've been in other countries this was not the case. At the end of the day, we made the most of the downsides and the best of the upsides. We had a good time, the kids were happy playing in the pool, at the beach and with the other kids and we never ent hungry or thirsty.
