We came self catering, for 5 nights. Not that we had any plans to cook in, although we found the room to be very well equipped. Rooms are basic, but modern and bright . Lovely big walk in shower. We had a room on the front over looking the road, thought it was going to be noisy but far from it, great double glazing. Equally there were some boisterous guests staying there, but once again never heard them in our room. The staff are helpful, no complaints. The hotel is fantastically located, central to bars , restaurants, supermarkets on the corner. Would recommend

“Mini Break”

Studio room facing the pool. Clean and accommodating room and maids in daily to clean, replace towels and make the beds. All facilities required in the room, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Very busy and activities in through the day. Recommended.

“Sort the food out”

Went back to the columbus at the beginning of March the hotel is still fine but the food as definitely gone down hill, yes there were a lot of hen & stag parties there but there was never any noise from them, the main people making the most noise were the older men who came for the Cheltenham cup. … more

Went back to the columbus at the beginning of March the hotel is still fine but the food as definitely gone down hill, yes there were a lot of hen & stag parties there but there was never any noise from them, the main people making the most noise were the older men who came for the Cheltenham cup. Or the older couples drunk all day over. The staff are fantastic alway polite, funny and they couldn't do enough for you, would we go back yes definitely but would go slf catering

“Good Hotel in Great Location with Brilliant Staff”

Arrived evening of 23rd Feb and received friendly professional welcome from Yanira. As in 2024 I'd emailed in advance asking that, if possible, I wasn't given a room next door to stag or hen parties - and once again they obliged. We were in 529, self catering, overlooking the pool. Obviously can't comment on the food or drink but apart from location a major plus is the quality of all the staff. Each morning the cleaners cleaned every inch of area around the pool by 08:30, hotel photos shows size of area, and also the elevated solarium areas at either end. They also cleaned both sides of the solarium glass panels. Inside the hotel the cleaners mopped the corridors each morning before doing the rooms which were well cleaned and we had sheets and towels changed regularly - even if we hadn't asked for a change. We had two separate minor faults during 18 night stay which I reported to receptionist, Sladja, and repairs took place within 2 hours. I've got to give a special mention here to Yanira and Sladja who provide an excellent reception service and are a great credit to the hotel. Downside - the size of the hotel and some of the guests. You get a few inconsiderate guests who make an excessive noise playing loud music at the poolside, in their room, or making a noise in corridor as they return in the early hours. Thankfully we'd only a few disturbances. Similarly the sometimes leave their mess lying - despite bins being within 5 metres - but you can get "dodgy guests" anywhere. Overall the Columbus is a good hotel in a great location. The staff provide an excellent service and the overall price is reasonable. We'll return in 2026.
