Frequent questions about Cruises

What about guests with special needs?

Guests affected  by a disability or medical condition must be self sufficient who have mobility impairments should travel with someone who will take responsability for any assistance needed during the cruise and in the event of an emergency.

Nowdays most of the ships have designated staterooms with wider doorways and bathrooms that accommodate wheelchairs. Guests requiring wheelchairs will need to bring their own on board and it should be small and collapsible. (If you would like to bring a motorised wheelchair or scooter on board you must inform when making the booking and provide dimensions and battery type as limitations may apply and the may not be able to accommodate  this request) If you use a wheelchair, please inform us at the time of the booking of the type. To ensure the safety of the guests and crew, wheelchairs may not be used to transfer from the ship to a tender ( tender: ship's small boat to get ashore). Guests in wheelchairs may consequently not be able to participate in certain activities or programmes in tender ports.

For hearing-impaired guests, there are staterooms ( in some ships) with light alarms and under-pillow vibrating alarms. And for the vision -impared, it is allow registered guide dogs on most Cruise Line ships (be aware of the airline and international quarantine restrictions may apply and should be checked before booking your cruise).

Any physical challenge or medical condition that requires special treatment or attention must be reported at the time of the reservation. For certain conditions Cruise Lines ask for medical declaration and liability forms. Due to unpredictable circumstances at sea, Cruise Lines reserve the right to refuse or revoke passage to anyone who, based upon objective standards is in a physical or mental condition that jeopardises the safe operation of the vessel, who poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others or who may require care beyond that the Cruise Line can provide.

All guests who require medical equipment to be brought on board must advise the Cruise Line before sailing. Failure to do so may result in equipment not being cleared before departure.

Requets for special diets should be made at the time of booking and at least two months before departure. Special meals requests are available on most ships. Including low calorie, vegetarian, gluten-free, no-MSG, low-/no sodium and low -/no cholesterol meals as well as sugar free and fat free desserts and kosher meals. Special diets cannot be guaranteed on flights and tours.
