We had originally booked a much more expensive, modern hotel in Paris. However, when I found out about the Hotel du Continent, I thought we would give it a try. This beautiful little boutique hotel is located between the Place de Concorde and the Place Vendome near all of the attractions in central Paris. We did not need to pay for a sauna, bar or lots of other hyped amenities, so we found the facilities perfectly acceptable at half the cost of larger hotels. The front desk clerk also serves as the concierge, and he/she offered us helpful advice on the Metro, train travel to Chartres, taxicabs and the airport. Desk clerk Annie is a magician, accomplishing tasks and answering questions we thought were impossible. The edgy decor in each room represents the various continents. The continental breakfast is a deal. We plan to stay here on our future visits to Paris and highly recommend recommend the Hotel du Continent.

“Great stay, welcoming staff and well situated”

This hotel is situated immediately central Paris and in walking distance from attractions and there is a nearby metro station. The staff I interacted with were all wonderful, providing recos and assisting with transportation. I had one of the rooms that has a bathroom downstairs. This was fine for me but may be challenging for some. I would definitely stay there again.

An excellent location – within walking distance of many sights and with easy transport links to others. Quite a smart area of Paris – lots of posh shops around (although their potential patrons would probably stay in swankier hotels) – something reflected in the price? Plenty of restaurants in the area, although they did seem to cater largely to the tourist trade. I had a somewhat poky room near the top of the building (the fifth floor) – sadly, often the fate of the solo traveller. Having said that, it was perfectly serviceable, given that I was out and about most of the time. I was somewhat worried by the fact that there was a single lift with an advertised capacity of two people, but, in practice, that was never a problem. Breakfast was available, subject to confirming the previous evening. A set (i.e. non-buffet) continental breakfast, which I found more than adequate, and probably a good option given the locality. The hotel is idiosyncratically decorated (is this what makes a hotel ‘boutique’?), with each floor themed round a different continent. Much of the decoration is derived from historical illustrations and not all of it (e.g. the murals in my Africa-themed room) would really pass a wokeness test. A major plus point was that all the staff (on reception, in the breakfast room, etc) were exemplary – friendly, helpful and efficient. A nice touch was a pre-stay emailed ‘survey’ which led to useful advice re transport links, local restaurants, etc. Would I stay here again? Well, I might look into more competitively priced options, but I would certainly be tempted.

Traveled solo to Paris for the first time and it was a great experience. The hotel is on a small street a short block from the Seine and steps from the high end boutiques on Honore. The hotel is very small with limited services but offers a continental breakfast daily. Not a breakfast person but get it…the croissants and bread was the best I tasted and I ate at a lot of high & low end restaurants. The room could use a little love but it was very clean, bed comfortable, shower was good- water hot and good pressure, wifi was good. The staff is excellent…welcoming and anticipating of my needs. Every morning I was greeted with a smile from each staff member I encountered. The great….location, staff, cleanliness and price point The ok….the rooms are a bit worn & dated..also smallish Would I recommend Hotel du Continent to my friends and family? ABSOLUTELY!
