Very attentive for our afternoon tea! Alicia and Liam m were amazing and very happy to help. We came out for my aunties birthday and had never been before but the team made us feel very welcome and cared for. The facilities are lovely and the food was amazing

“Great stay”

We stayed here for 1 night, room lovely and clean with a massive comfortable bed. We booked Belton house festival of lights which was in walking distance and amazing, breakfast was lovely and hot plenty of choice . Will definitely stay again

This was our first visit to Belton, arriving Christmas Eve until 27th December. Firstly, I’d like to say the staff were for the most part very helpful & accommodating, especially as regards my partner’s mobility scooter. There was one exception - the waiter on the first evening seemed to lose interest after we’d placed our dessert order. After about 30mins we had to ask another waiter, who brought them to us without further delay. No apology from the original waiter, who saw what had happened but chose to ignore us for the rest of the evening. The room was ok. Clean, a bit tired & dated, with none of the special touches I’d have expected. No nice toiletries, not even a tumbler for our toothbrushes. No welcome goodies, just a bottle of port - not really suitable for non drinkers. The worst thing was the heating which sounded like a permanently boiling kettle! We were pleased when we worked out how to turn it off completely. There was no hotel information folder in the room. The food was variable at best & at worst, Christmas Day lunch, it was awful. The roast potatoes were overcooked, seemed to have been kept warm for hours & were hard to cut up & eat! The turkey hadn’t been carved from breast. It seemed to be some sort of reconstituted meat, in a roll, cooked to the point of tastelessness & crumbled like sawdust in the mouth. The evening buffet was more bland food & an assortment of desserts even the waitress couldn’t readily identify. I had the grilled sea-bream on Christmas Eve - delicious. Thought I’d have it again on Boxing Day - turned up with virtually none of the creamy mussel sauce that accompanied it the first time. My Christmas Eve crème brûlée was served in a shallow dish & about 1/4” deep. When my partner had it on Boxing Day it was in a ramekin dish & much more as one would expect. The entertainment was ok & I think the staff generally tried really hard. They can’t be blamed for the poor quality of ingredients used, that’s a management decision. I think overall, we were disappointed. The break wasn’t inexpensive & we’d expected more. Don’t think we’ll be returning unless we see evidence in new reviews down the line that there’s been a marked improvement all round.

Lovely room and friendly staff. Food in the main dining room in the evening was absolutely atrocious as it came cold, overcooked and was of very poor quality. Also had a problem with cold food at lunchtime in the bar on the first day. This spoiled our Christmas break and although we have had many Christmas breaks at Belton, we will be looking to stay elsewhere next year because of the poor food which, by the way, isn't inexpensive. Another issue was the pool water was cold and the filter was malfunctioning so there was sand in the pool. Due to this, the water clarity was poor. The food and the pool are the main reasons we choose Belton so we were disappointed on both fronts. It's such a shame because, if these two issues were sorted out, it would be wonderful.
