“A countryside special treat!”

We stayed here on Boxing Day (a kid free break for a couple of days with our dog :) This is the loveliest place! I can’t say enough to recommend but will try & remember everything! It’s set in beautiful grounds and countryside & especially this time of year it’s beautifully decorated, big log fire in reception, door wreaths, a tree, lights etc very warm friendly staff & welcoming atmosphere, it feels really special here. When they say they are dog friendly, they really mean it, they can’t do enough to accommodate doggies! Lots of people had dogs which added a lovely atmosphere, dogs are welcome everywhere except the spa/gym, even in the restaurant they brought out a blanket & laid it under the table for our dog. :) The bar area is very comfortable and cosy with a fab atmosphere. There are a selection of board games to help yourself to & you can eat in the bar area as well as the main restaurant. There is also a Japanese restaurant which we did not try (but definitely would next time) and a smart bar where you can sit and have a cocktail. :) The standard of all the food was top-notch, great quality and a wide selection at breakfast time. Plenty of choice, very well cooked and good quality ingredients. Lots of cocktails, different wines and beers to choose from in the bar. The gym area is small but well equipped and the pool area is again quite small but very comfortable and you can order drinks to come to you, it is a spa pool -not a swimming pool. Although there is an outdoor pool which is heated and open all year round if you wanted to swim. There are treatment rooms where you can have a massage - and they have different walking routes (with a shelf of wellies that you can help yourself to) Our room was really comfortable, everything you need and some nice touches - also dog treats and dog bowls ready for when we arrived and a comfy dog bed. We will definitely stay again and we will look forward to bringing family here. It might officially be a four star, but we felt that it was a five star experience! Thank you

“Great dining experience”

Had a lovely family meal and birthday celebration in a private room off the restaurant. Great ambiance and food, good service and decent value, so no complaints all round, but it just didn't reach the 5-star level and, overall, was slightly underwhelming

“Nice Tay but definitely things to be improved ….”
