Hammamet - Kairouan - Tozeur

Breakfast then departure to Kairouan, where we'll take a walking tour through the old medina to the Great Mosque of Kairouan, located in the middle of the Medina and built by the Arab general Uqba Ibn Nafi in 670 AD. The Mosque attracts thousands of local and international visitors due to its magnificent architecture and spiritual significance. Next up is a visit to the Aglabi cisterns, where two large water pools and a number of cisterns have survived the passage of centuries, helping to conserve and distribute decades of scarce drinking water resources. Afterwards, we'll head south to Gafsa for lunch before arriving in Tozeur, the city of palm trees. Arrival. Dinner and overnight stay.

Tozeur - Douz

Includes: BreakfastLunchDinner
Breakfast. A leisurely morning with the possibility of optional activities (not included): morning 4X4 ride through the desert to reach the impressive mountain oasis of Chebika and Tamerza, or the opportunity to take another 4x4 ride to visit the site where the Star Wars movie was filmed in the middle of the Sahara desert, just a couple of minutes from Tozeur.
After lunch, we'll leave Tozeur via the country's largest salt lake, Chott el Djerid, to reach Douz, the “gateway to the Sahara.” Free time or optional camel ride (not included). Dinner and overnight stay.

Douz - Matmata - Djerba

Includes: BreakfastLunchDinner
Breakfast. Departure to Matmata, an area containing one of the best preserved and still inhabited troglodyte houses, which were carved by Tunisian Berbers in the middle of the surrounding land. Matmata is also home to one of the locations where the Star Wars movie was filmed and is open to visitors. The next stop will be lunch on Djerba, the Island of Dreams. Afterwards, we'll discover the centre of the island, Houmt Souk, famous for being the locals' daily shopping spot, as well as containing colourful souks and neighbourhoods such as the Djerba Hood, a street where artists from all over the world came together in 2014 to create beautiful pieces of graffiti art. Dinner and overnight stay.

Djerba

Includes: BreakfastLunchDinner
Breakfast. A trip to Djerba to discover a different culture. In the centre of the island is the historically significant El Ghriba Synagogue, a Jewish temple located in the village of Erriadh. There were once as many as 20 synagogues in Erriadh, one of which is now a place of pilgrimage for many visitors from all over the world. The synagogue is a modest building when viewed from the outside, but has a fascinating interior, richly decorated with colourful windows and tiles and well-preserved authentic furniture. Currently the island is home to around 1,400 Jews, who live in harmony together with Muslims and a shared Tunisian heritage. After lunch, we head to Guellala, which comes from the Berber name Iquallalen, meaning potters. Guellala is renowned for its pottery, which has been practised for centuries and is considered to be one of the main economic activities of the local people from ancient times to the present day. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Djerba - El Djem - Sousse

Includes: BreakfastLunchDinner
Breakfast. Departure to El Djem, home of the Roman amphitheatre of El Djem, the second largest Roman amphitheatre built around 18 centuries ago, which is exceptionally well preserved to this day. It was mainly used for spectator events, i.e. for gladiator battles. Lunch at a local restaurant in El Djem. We end the day with a short stroll around the marina of Port El Kantaoui, where we will have the opportunity to buy some souvenirs or simply enjoy a Tunisian coffee or juice. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast. Departure to the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said. This charming village is known for its whitewashed walls, indigo-blue windows and doors, as well as stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Our next stop is the nearby archaeological site of Carthage, located on a magnificent coastline. Although the ancient city was destroyed by the Romans, this UNESCO World Heritage Site features excavations of houses, baths, and sewage systems. Another major attraction is the Amphitheatre of Carthage, built around the first century and later reconstructed by the Romans. After lunch, we'll head to the centre of Tunis to visit the Bardo National Museum, famous for its rich collection of mosaics. Important remarks

- Tunisia is a Muslim country and the month of Ramadan is of major significance to its residents. During Ramadan, entertainment and alcohol will be restricted in most of the country. The sale of alcohol will be restricted in many places, although some establishments will offer alcohol for sale to tourists. During this period, local businesses may also have shorter opening hours.

- The tours include cultural stops at local workshops so you can learn about the production of traditional crafts.

- Triple rooms in Africa are generally rooms with twin beds or a double, in which a folding bed is installed to accommodate the third person. Due to the inconvenience this causes, we advise against using this option as far the possible.

- Check-in time at the hotel on the day of arrival depends on each establishment, but in no case will it be before 3:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated.

- Depending on flight arrival and departure times, dinner on the first day and the visit to Carthage and lunch on the last day may not be included.

- In the event that the Bardo National Museum cannot be visited, it will be replaced by a visit to the El Djem Museum.

- The order of the itinerary may be altered for logistical reasons, without prior notice, but no scheduled trips will be cancelled (except in the case that adverse weather conditions prevent its realisation).

- A credit card is considered a guarantee, so sometimes you will need one for check-in at hotels.

- Prices are calculated based on admission fees to the sights as of the date of publication. If there is an increase in these prices, you will be promptly informed.

- If you are a person with reduced mobility, please contact us to confirm the suitability of the trip.

- Consult the necessary documentation to enter the destinations visited and for transit in the countries where air stopovers are made.
