Jakarta – Pangkalanbun– Tajung Puting National

Includes: BreakfastLunchDinner
Breakfast. Morning departure to the airport for a domestic flight to Pangkalan Bun, in the Indonesian part of Borneo. Once there, we'll head to Kumai and take a boat over to the Tanjung Puting National Park. There, we'll board a klotok, a traditional boat, on which we'll explore the park and also spend the night. A klotok is a kind of wooden houseboat that sails up and down the river. The upper deck is the best place to admire the tropical jungle while the boat is underway. Lunch. As the klotok ventures deeper into the Borneo jungle, and if we're in luck, we'll spot playful macaques and small crocodiles camouflaged among the lush vegetation. We'll get to meet some orangutans by visiting one of the feeding stations of these apes, where at certain times of the day they are called in to get their food. These are orangutans living free in the reserve but within rehabilitation projects. In the evening, we can take an hour-long walk through the jungle, if we fancy. Dinner and overnight stay on the klotok.

There, we can trek through the jungle and observe orangutans, macaques and gibbons. Once again, we'll see how they get their food from the feeding station. Lunch. We'll then spend the afternoon and night sailing along the river on the klotok. Dinner and overnight stay on the klotok.

After sunrise, we'll enjoy breakfast. Afterwards, we'll visit the temple of Borobudur. This Buddhist temple was built in the 8th and 9th centuries by the Shailendra dynasty. It has three levels: a pyramidal base with five concentric square terraces, a central part with three circular platforms and an upper part formed by a large stupa. We'll then go to Candirejo, near Borobudur, where we'll take a horse and carriage ride through the villages to see rural life at its most authentic. We'll have the chance to join locals in playing the gamelan, a traditional Javanese instrument, and also enjoy a visit to a time-honoured food factory. Lunch. We'll then visit the huge Prambanan Temple, built in the ninth century by the Sanjaya dynasty at the foot of Mount Merapi. End the day by enjoying the sunset from Tebing Breski. Return to hotel. Important remarks

- Triple rooms in Indonesia are generally rooms with twin beds or a double, in which a folding bed is installed to accommodate the third person. Due to the inconvenience this causes, we advise against using this option as far the possible.

- The baggage allowance on domestic flights of most airlines in India is usually 15 kg per person, so lower than on international flights. Please take account of this when packing your bags.

- Please check with your international vaccination centre about the recommended healthcare measures in Indonesia.

- Indonesia is a Muslim country and the month of Ramadan is of major significance to its residents. During Ramadan, entertainment and alcohol will be restricted in most of the country. The sale of alcohol will be restricted in many places, although some establishments will offer alcohol for sale to tourists. During this period, local businesses may also have shorter opening hours.

- Depending on the return flight, the trip may be one day longer.

- To reconfirm services at the destination, please send us your passport details within 24 hours of booking.

- Check-in time at the hotel on the day of arrival depends on each establishment, but in no case will it be before 3:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated.

- The order of visits in Komodo National Park may vary depending on weather conditions and domestic flight schedules.

- The order of the itinerary may be altered for logistical reasons, without prior notice, but no scheduled trips will be cancelled (except in the case that adverse weather conditions prevent its realisation).

- A credit card is considered a guarantee, so sometimes you will need one for check-in at hotels.

- Prices are calculated based on admission fees to the sights as of the date of publication. If there is an increase in these prices, you will be promptly informed.

- If you are a person with reduced mobility, please contact us to confirm the suitability of the trip.

- Consult the necessary documentation to enter the destinations visited and for transit in the countries where air stopovers are made.
