The sheer beauty of nature

Few destinations in the world are, in terms of nature, as exciting and attractive as Indonesia. Its strategic location on the map and its sheer size bestow the country with a vast array of contrasts that you'll discover on this tour. Green and blue will be the predominant colours etched in your memory after travelling through Indonesia with us: Jakarta will be the gateway to a fascinating experience that will take you through Borneo and its imposing nature; the island of Bali; the neighbouring volcano of Ijen; and Gili Asahan, a pocket-sized paradise off the coast of Lombok.

Central Jakarta - Pangkalan Bun - Tanjung Puting

Includes: BreakfastLunchDinner
Breakfast. Morning departure to the airport for a domestic flight to Pangkalan Bun, in the Indonesian part of Borneo. Once there, we'll head to Kumai and take a boat over to the Tanjung Puting National Park. There, we'll board a klotok, a traditional boat, on which we'll explore the park and also spend the night. A klotok is a kind of wooden houseboat that sails up and down the river. The upper deck is the best place to admire the tropical jungle while the boat is underway. Lunch. As the klotok ventures deeper into the Borneo jungle, and if we're in luck, we'll spot playful macaques and small crocodiles camouflaged among the lush vegetation. We'll get to meet some orangutans by visiting one of the feeding stations of these apes, where at certain times of the day they are called in to get their food. These are orangutans living free in the reserve but within rehabilitation projects. In the evening, we can take an hour-long walk through the jungle, if we fancy. Dinner and overnight stay on the klotok.

Tanjung Puting

Includes: BreakfastLunchDinner
Breakfast. We'll set out towards Pondok Tanguy, about a twenty-minute walk away. From there, we'll continue to Camp Leakey, a rehabilitation and reintroduction centre for older orangutans. There, we can trek through the jungle and observe orangutans, macaques and gibbons. Once again, we'll see how they get their food from the feeding station. Lunch. We'll then spend the afternoon and night sailing along the river on the klotok. Dinner and overnight stay on the klotok.

Tanjung Puting - Pangkalan Bun - Bali - Canggu

Includes: Breakfast
Breakfast. Back to the Kumai district to head off to Pangkalan Bun Airport, where we'll take a domestic flight to the island of Bali, via Surabaya. Upon arrival on the so-called Island of the Gods, transfer to the hotel in Canggu, situated between the ever-popular Seminyak Beach and the mythical temple of Tanah Lot. This area is home to the beaches of Berawa, Batu Bolong and Pererenan, to name just a few. It's one of the few coastal areas that still has verdant rice fields, while it also boasts funky little coffee shops and restaurants. The most comfortable way to get around is by scooter or taxi. What's more, it retains a laid-back feel without being packed with beach bars like other areas. Overnight stay.

Canggu

Includes: Breakfast
Breakfast. Departure to Sanur to visit Serangan Beach and the turtle recovery centre. From there we'll go to Padang Padang Beach, a very popular spot with locals and tourists alike that was used as the setting for scenes from the film “Eat, Pray, Love”. In the afternoon we'll head over to the Cliffs of Uluwatu and the pebbled Suluban Beach, as well as the Uluwatu Temple complex, which only opens when a ceremony is being held. Return journey to the hotel. Overnight stay.

Canggu - Ubud - Canggu

Includes: BreakfastLunch
Breakfast. Upon arrival in Ubud, we'll set off on a one-hour trek along the Campuhan Ridge, which is blessed by stunning views. After this, we'll visit the Monkey Forest, a natural sanctuary where monkeys live in freedom. Next stop will be the rice terraces of Tegallalang, where we'll enjoy lunch before going over to Puri Sebatu, a place of water purification ceremonies in keeping with Hindu tradition. We'll hear what the ritual involves and then get the chance to take part. The final stop of the day will be at the Kanto Lampo Waterfall. Return journey to the hotel. Overnight stay.

Canggu - Banyuwangi

Includes: BreakfastLunch
Breakfast. We'll then head to Gilimanuk to take a ferry over to Ketapang, on the island of Java. The journey will take about four hours, with a stop for lunch. We'll arrive in Banyuwangi about 40 minutes after setting sail. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and rest of afternoon/evening at your leisure. We recommend an early night, as we'll be getting up in the early hours of the morning. Overnight stay.

Banyuwangi - Kawah Ijen - Bali - Sanur

Includes: Breakfast
Today we'll visit Ijen. At around one in the morning, we'll set off by jeep to Ijen National Park, which opens its doors at 2.00 am. We'll start off with a ninety-minute moonlight trek, using torches to light up the path. We'll come across peasants and miners on the way. And then we'll reach the volcano crater. We'll decide among ourselves how close we want to get to this amazing natural spectacle. The Kawah Ijen volcano is the scene of some pretty unusual phenomena. The fire of the volcano is blue and releases sulphur dioxide, a highly toxic gas that is the main cause of acid rain. Flames adorn the descent of liquid sulphur rivers in full combustion. Watching the sunrise from the crater is a breathtaking experience. When the sun comes up, the crater lake starts to dazzle, contrasting with the grey of its walls and highlighting the turquoise waters, produced by the sulphur and aluminium sulphate. We'll head back to the hotel at around 9.30 in the morning in time for breakfast. At the arranged time with the guide, we'll head off to the port to take a ferry to Bali. Overnight stay in Sanur.

Sanur - Gili Asahan

Includes: Breakfast
Breakfast. Transfer to the port of Semarang, where we'll catch a boat to Gili Gede. Then we'll hop on another boat over to the neighbouring island of Gili Asahan, the ideal place for worshipping the sun, taking refreshing dips in the sea, having a go at water sports and unwinding in the fresh breeze. Gili Asahan has shunned mass tourism, being a true paradise for all who are lucky enough to visit. Overnight stay.

Important remarks

- Triple rooms in Indonesia are generally rooms with twin beds or a double, in which a folding bed is installed to accommodate the third person. Due to the inconvenience this causes, we advise against using this option as far the possible.

- The baggage allowance on domestic flights of most airlines in India is usually 15 kg per person, so lower than on international flights. Please take account of this when packing your bags.

- Please check with your international vaccination centre about the recommended healthcare measures in Indonesia.

- Indonesia is a Muslim country and the month of Ramadan is of major significance to its residents. During Ramadan, entertainment and alcohol will be restricted in most of the country. The sale of alcohol will be restricted in many places, although some establishments will offer alcohol for sale to tourists. During this period, local businesses may also have shorter opening hours.

- Depending on the return flight, the trip may be one day longer.

- To reconfirm services at the destination, please send us your passport details within 24 hours of booking.

- Check-in time at the hotel on the day of arrival depends on each establishment, but in no case will it be before 3:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated.

- The order of the itinerary may be altered for logistical reasons, without prior notice, but no scheduled trips will be cancelled (except in the case that adverse weather conditions prevent its realisation).

- A credit card is considered a guarantee, so sometimes you will need one for check-in at hotels.

- Prices are calculated based on admission fees to the sights as of the date of publication. If there is an increase in these prices, you will be promptly informed.

- If you are a person with reduced mobility, please contact us to confirm the suitability of the trip.

- Consult the necessary documentation to enter the destinations visited and for transit in the countries where air stopovers are made.
