Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take an international flight to Paro, in Bhutan. The flight from Kathmandu to Paro is one of the most spectacular in the Himalayas. Upon arrival, we'll meet up with the guide and depart by road to the capital, Thimphu. We'll make a stop en route in Chuzom, where the Thimphu and Paro rivers meet. We'll see three types of stupas there: Tibetan, Nepalese, and Bhutanese. Shortly before reaching Chuzom, we'll get to admire Tachogang Lhakhang, known as the 'Temple of the Excellent Horse', which dates back to the fifteenth century. Legend has it that it was built after the visit of Balaha, the excellent horse and a manifestation of Chenrezig, a.k.a. the Buddha of Compassion. Lunch at a local restaurant. Arrival in Thimphu and check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, we'll take a stroll along the main street and around the market. Arrival at the craft bazaar. Dinner in the hotel. Accommodation.

In the grounds there's a statue of Chenrezig with eleven heads. Lunch at a local restaurant. Onward journey to Pangri Zampa, one of the oldest monasteries in the country. Afterwards, we'll visit the Post Office, a traditional paper production centre and, in the afternoon, the Trashi Chho Dzong Fortress, where the royal throne is located. Return to hotel. The road to the temple is lined with rice fields. Lunch at a local restaurant. After check-in at the hotel, we'll visit Punakha Dzong, built at the confluence of two rivers.
