Vietnam with Sapa and Cambodia with Koh Rong Samloem

Paradises you never imagined coming across

We all pretty much have the same image of paradise: white sands, crystal-clear waters, a serene sea and a kaleidoscope of blues and greens. So, come and discover a place that perfectly evokes this idea: Koh Rong Samloem, in Cambodia. We'll arrive there after days touring around the must-sees of the north and the centre of the neighbouring country, Vietnam, from Hanoi to Hoi An, getting to know Sapa, a land of ethnic minorities and mountain landscapes, and Ha Long Bay, one of the most magical scenarios of all Asia. The Temples of Angkor will be the prelude to these days in paradise.

Breakfast. Today, accompanied by our guide, we'll take an immersive tour through the streets of Hanoi, where history, culture and life intermingle. The first stop will be at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, which is guarded by the famous Ba Dinh Square. Onwards to Ho Chi Minh's house and the Stilt House and the Single Pillar Pagoda, a curious building that resembles a lotus flower. We'll then stroll through a network of streets near the complex to see the makeshift markets that appear each day on the maze-like Vietnamese streets. Before driving towards the old town, we'll stop at the Temple of Literature. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we'll head off on a walking tour through the labyrinth of streets that make up the city's most famous shopping area, even visiting a traditional Vietnamese house. To round things off, we'll head to Hoan Kiem Lake to visit the Ngoc Son Temple. Late afternoon transfer to the train station for an overnight train to Sapa. Note: We recommend that you bring a carry-on bag with you in which to keep your essentials for a two-night stay in Sapa. Night on board.

Upon arrival in Lao Cai you will be met at the SaoViet office for transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival there will be some time to freshen up, unwind, and have breakfast. We start the day with a hike of about 6 km to the southwest, through the Muong Hoa valley and the village of Y Linh Ho, which is inhabited by the black H'mong people. We'll then arrive in Lao Chai and the settlement of Ta Van. These lands are principally inhabited by the Dzay and the H'mong, who will accompany us along the way. The landscape here is of endless terraces of rice fields, very different from the cities. Lunch in Ta Van. Return journey to the hotel and overnight stay.

At about 1,800 metres above sea level, we'll reach the village of Hang Da, home of the Hmong people. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch there and have a little rest. Onward to Hau Thao.
