Ilha de São Miguel Route

Experience the magic of São Miguel and explore all its hidden corners, from volcanoes to breath-taking natural pools

Discovering a destination means fully exploring and experiencing it. This tour will take you to all the secrets and hidden corners of the largest of the Azores. São Miguel is a sanctuary full of nature where you'll see that Mother Nature cherishes some truly incredible and wonderful places. And many of them are concentrated on this island. Where else in the world can you see lagoons within volcanic craters? In Lagoa de Santiago. And coloured lagoons? In Sete Cidades, where a bridge separates a green lagoon from a blue lagoon. Volcanic heritage is present in much of São Miguel. In fact, you'll visit volcanic beaches and even an underwater volcano with a unique crater pool. Also unique is its seabed. In these latitudes, there are whales, sharks, dolphins and turtles waiting to be spotted. There are also shipwrecks ideal for diving and other places perfect for adventure sports. Cuisine is also one of the strong points of São Miguel. Proof of this is 'cozido', a stew cooked in metal pots on the hot springs in Lagoa das Furnas. What's more, cod, beef, cheese and pineapple are some of the key ingredients in local dishes. Untouched havens also include waterfalls and natural pools scattered throughout the island. From Feteiras, where the water flowing from the earth is hot, to Mosteiros and Capelas. These are authentic pools of salt water, open to the sea but sheltered from the Atlantic waves. Charge your mobile up because you'll be taking many a photo around the island. It's amazing!

Important remarks

- Triple rooms in Europe are generally rooms with twin beds or a double, in which a folding bed is installed to accommodate the third person. Due to the inconvenience this causes, we advise against using this option as far the possible.

- Check-in time at the hotel on the day of arrival depends on each establishment, but in no case will it be before 3:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated.

- The proposed excursions and tours for each day are purely suggestions, as you can tailor the trip to suit your times, tastes and needs.

- A credit card is considered a guarantee, so sometimes you will need one for check-in at hotels.

- Hotels usually have cots available. Otherwise, babies will have to share a bed with an adult.

- To pick up your rental car, you'll need a credit (not debit) card in the name of the person who made the booking, who must also be the named driver of the vehicle.

- Consult the necessary documentation to enter the destinations visited and for transit in the countries where air stopovers are made.
